It’s difficult to find books that teen or tween boys will enjoy. I have a suggestion:
Trash by Andy Mulligan
Find it here on Amazon
The storyline is a mystery, fast paced and interesting. It takes place in a fictitious setting, but many feel it is the Smokey Mountains of Manila where people are so poor, they pick through trash for items to sell, eat or use.
I really enjoyed this story. It does have a few intense spots, so may be best for kids over 13 or 14. That is my “mom” rating ha ha.

The Lexile Measurement for Trash is: 850L
A great book for a report on cultures, geography, world studies, or just summer reading.
Enjoy!
